Ashley Corbett-Smith is an industrial designer based in Sydney Australia working across product, furniture and lighting design.
Specialising, or generalising in one-off pieces for the past decade, he is adept at working across a variety of mediums, alongside artisans, craftspeople, engineers and architects to realise projects diverse in scope.
Approaching projects within a reductionist framework, his aim is to understand each of the elements at its most basic. As a result of working primarily on bespoke pieces, this has led to a deep understanding of both the design constraints of a multitude of materials, as well as the capabilities of the craftspeople and companies that produce them.
Not limited to a single material, style, theme or process, his aim is to create works as simply as possible.
